I am using 1.7.1 on Mac Ventura 13.6.7.

My Sony A6700 HIF files which are shot as verticals (portrait orientation) are not displayed properly in the grid thumbnail view. When I open one to display it though it is displayed in the proper vertical orientation. Please display the thumbnail properly too. Thank you.

Thanks to your detailed description I can reproduce the problem.

I also use XnView MP on a Windows 11 PC. I do not have it with me right now, but I think the Windows version has the same problem.

This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 1.7.2. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.

I installed 1.7.2 and I confirm that the orientation for the thumbnail and the open photo are now correct. But there is a major regression that I reported here:

I must go back to 1.7.1.

I just installed 1.8.0, but unfortunately this bug has returned. The HIF thumbnail is not oriented properly. When I click on the thumbnail the full size photo is properly oriented.
