Hi, I have an image in CR2 format and I am converting it to JPG format from XnShell, but the result converted file the image looks darker.

This same CR2 image I have converted from XnView MP to JPG format, setting the export to high quality, and the image looks the same.

Image

And the difference in the size of the converted file is larger from XnView MP

How can XnShell be configured so that the image converted to JPG looks the same as the original?

P.S. this is the CR2 format file, with which I have been testing, in case anyone wants to try and see the different results from XnView MP and XnShell

I leave this link, because I can't attach the file due to the type of extension that has

Thank you.

Hi, I don't know where that setting is in XnShell, since I couldn't find that option I thought it was taken from the XnView MP configuration.

Can you tell me where to configure it to try to see if it does not change the image?

You mean in this menu?

When I click on configuration, that button does nothing, it doesn't show any configuration window.

I don't know if it has something to do with the operating system, but I am using Windows 11.

It only shows me two “JPG” formats, the one that I have put in the previous capture, that the button is active, but when pressing it it does nothing, and this other format “JPG”, that the configuration button is OFF, so it cannot be configured either.

Ok, I thought they were all together in alphabetical order, and that first block I missed.

I think I have the same settings in XnView MP and XnShell, and the size of the file that XnShell creates is much larger than the one created by XnView MP.

Anyway, once configured when converted the image is still darker, I have tried all the settings, and when converted from XnView MP to JPG format the image is displayed with the same light as the original, and from XnShell it is still darker.

In XnViewMP, you should have configured that embedded thumbnail is used for Camera RAW. In XnShell, it's the full size

Hi, I don't understand very well the translation of your last comment.

But, the converted images, I think that being equally configured in XnViewMP and XnShell, are different.

The one converted with XnViewMP has the same color as the original, you can see the difference between the two opened in Photoshop.

In CR2, you have a embedded JPEG, and i think that XnView is configured to use it and not the full raw data
In XnShell, the full raw is always used. i'll add a setting

Thanks now I understand, it is faster to convert from XnShell, the bad thing is that now it does not create the images like the original, you have to pass them with other programs to match the color, so if there are many images you lose a lot of time.

Hi, I have seen and updated XnShell, I don't know if something new has been added, but after testing, it still shows the same result, from XnViewMP the conversion to JPG remains the same as the original CR2, it shows the same color, but from XnShell the conversion is still darker.
