I have JPG files.
Xn View MP 1.92 is not rebuild exif-Thumbnail if I've deleted EXIF:IFD1.
It only creates exif tag:
---- EXIF:IFD1 ----
-EXIF:IFD1:ImageWidth 160
-EXIF:IFD1:ImageHeight 120
-EXIF:IFD1:Compression JPEG (old-style)
But no thumbnail inside of file.

No sense. You can check any image file without embedded thumbnail.
I've found https://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?t=28780 dd Oct 06, 2013 3:00 am : As of now (v2.05), there's only a command for updating/rebuilding/recreating *existing* embedded Exif thumbnails.
Nothing has changed since that time
