search in XMP metadatas : case of the city

Hello,
I have the 1.9.5 release on Win11.

I try to write some metadatas in my pictures.
I use the edit XMP panel and the IPTC extensions tab.
I put some text in "city" and "event" items. I see the data in the XMP tab in the informations panel.
With the search tool, I can find the pictures with an event. I use the event field in the search list of XMP fields.
But I can’t find easily the pictures with a city.
The search list of XMP fields shows two "city". The two possibilities don’t work.
The first one seems to search the "Origine>city" (tag photoshop>City). It’s not "my" city.
The second one seems to search nowhere. Maybe, it should search my city, the "IPTC Extensions > City" (tag iptc4xmpExt>City), but it doesn’t work.
I can find when I use a search condition with XMP:fields and add "city" in the field name.
Do I something wrong and this behaviour is normal? Or is there a problem?

I'll try and help you...

Without a screenshot of how you're filling out the search dialog, it's hard to say for sure what's happening. First, I would suggest, just as a test, putting something unique (like ZZZZZ) in the city field just to make sure it's unique.

You can try searching for this in the QuickFilter search. Just to the left of the "Quick Filter" entry field, you see a little magnifying glass icon, which is a drop down menu. Click it, and on that menu, make sure that "XMP fields" and "IPTC fields" both have checkmarks.
Then enter ZZZZZ in the Quick Filter box. It should find your file (if in the browser you're in the folder that contains the file).

If it does not, then somehow you have not saved the tag. Perhaps you didn't click the "Write" button in the Edit XMP dialog.

If Quickfilter DOES find your file, but you don't find it using the Ctrl-F advanced search dialog, then you are filling out the dialog wrong. Perhaps when you select the city field, you are using the "is" operator; try using "contains" instead to make the match.

If these suggestions don't work, show us some screenshots so that we can see what you're doing.

Hopefully this helps...
