Maybe rather a poll with 10 or so most requested features? Like categories support, archive browsing, extended metadata support etc etc.

X.

Added to Global Request & Suggestion list.

klaus2, please start new, clear request, I think there are more requests...

Xyzzy, there is already a Global Request & Suggestion list, maybe some requests could be moved to some 'most important' category. Deluxe features are already on top, since they should be easy to implement, they are already in xnview (just in deluxe version).

hello Dreamer,

sorry, i don't understand you: "please start new, clear request" what do you mean?

It was already raised a couple of times and basically committed for the Todo-List and is very clear to my opinion:
- i want to define a favorite viewer window height (static)
- with "fit image to window height" the image height will adapt accordingly
image height = viewer height; the image width will change proportionally
- now, what i would like to have: that the viewer window width matches the resulting image width
viewer_width = new_image_width
In short:
Viewer window heigth: user defined; image height fits to that
Viewer window width: depends on calculated image size (limited by desktop width)
Vertically: image heigth = viewer height
Horizontally: viewer width = resulting image width

Pls help me to understand what stays unclear here.
Many thanks!

What you would like seem to be 'Force XnView to fit image' working with 'Fit image to window width/height' set for 'Auto image size'.

Seems to be reasonable and no new option required.

X.

klaus2 - your link is to second page of some topis, there are more suggestions there, therefore I can't add it to the list (above). It's not that I don't understand what you mean.

What I suggest:
- Faster Display (display while loading & partial display, efficient HQ zooming, handling large images), better Buffer
- Better layout of options/menus
- General Code cleanup/optimization, smaller files (those dll languages!!!), simpler download packages easier to choose from (1 small +1 extra).

...before even thinking about adding more bells&whistles in the next version.

:) Hello !

- I support your points. But this doesn't prevent me to think too to some useful additions which fell deep in the Pierre's “ToDo” and “Wishes” lists…
For instance :
• Something to hide¦show the tree-dock in the browser, like discussed HERE (promised…)
• An improved GRID
• And, of course text languages files :!:

• … and some dozen of others I don't remember at the moment…

"Lite" version

I would really like a real "Lite" version. I love my old quick and small ACDSee 1.x which is extremely hard to get nowadays.

I guess, it should only consist of image browser, image viewer, auto resize to fit on screen, and archive browsing. That's all. Just a quick no nonsense image viewers....

Thumbnail database is a good addition for some, but if I want to see the thumbnail I won't open XnView, right? Just look at explorer window, and thumbnail is there.. I only need XnView to view images full screen.

Of course, customizable navigator keys/mouse are welcome.

And too…

Hello Dreamer,

"your link is to second page of some topis, there are more suggestions there, therefore I can't add it to the list (above)."

Ok, i created formally a new thread entry, so that an isolated description can be picked up from a link.

For the viewer i would very much appreciate an option to set a favorite height value, and width of the viewer window will be computed depending on the resulting image width.

The Print dialog in XnView 1.82 is pretty limited and really needs an update and improvement. The Print dialog of XnView DeLuxe would be a good step in the right direction.
