I have lots of photo's on my HD. Scanned-in the negatives.

:?: Can I create EXIF date-info for them :?:

Preferably batch-wise, from the file- or map-name e.g.

same problem here - how to create exif fields with scanned images ?

Sorry it's not yet possible to create EXIF

Thanks for your fast response - is it possible that a new Version of Xnview will support it? - for me it is absolutly satisfactory to use the your dialog in Xnview "change timestamp" - but the creation Date Fields are greyed out

You could try EXIFTool Gui at: http://freeweb.siol.net/hrastni3/. It works very well and is a front end to the excellent ExifTool by Phil Harvey (http://www.sno.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/).

I have used it to create EXIF tags for scanned slides.

Yes ican add it, you would like to add EXIF date only?

Seems like a good idea in general,
that way I can avoid adding EXIF tags with an external program
(e.g. EXifTool) and I can think of a few items:
- image description
- X resolution
- Y resolution
- make (camera or scanner source type)
- date (of creation)
- ...

I too will be looking forward to being able to add EXIF date info to my scans and other pics that have lost the EXIF info along the way.

Additionally, if the EXIF date can be created in batch using the date modified, date entered, or something similar.

So you would like to be able to use 'change timestamp' on exif date even if the file has no exif??

So was this idea dropped? I'd still like to see this functionality if possible.

Thank you so much for your incredible work with XnView. It is hands down THE BEST free or paid software for viewing images and doing a TON of other things!

As I see inserting EXIF is still not available in XnView but from my perspective it is very very important.

So far I use a 15 years old otherwise useless Adope Photoshop Album software which offers "Change Date and Time" that automatically inserts EXIF with the three date and time records if missing.

This way is far too complicated because I have to start the programm, click on button Load / From File, select the files, click on button Open, click in menue on Edit /Select All, click in menue on Edit /Change Date and Time, click OK, press Delete key, click OK, close program.

After this in XnView I use menue Tools /Change Date and Time to edit proper date and time for every image. So it would be fine if XnView itself would insert EXIF with the three date and time records if missing.

With 2.12 "insert EXIF with the three date and time records if missing" still is not implemented - any chance doing this?

I was expecting the Change timestamp tool to add exif dates too since it has checkboxes for it. It's rather confusing.

Please make it possible to add exif dates if none exist.
