Yes, but it shouldn't be locked by default IMO, also because it's not easy to change this hidden option for normal users.

To unlock it, first close XnView, then open the xnview.ini file in notepad, find option LockLayout=1 , change the value to 0 and save the file.

Default value should be definitely 0 IMHO!!!

It was not !

:) Hello !

• Well, now it seems that the default is alright “0”, but it wasn't in the 1.96-ß-1,
I had even to START A THREAD because I missed to check that INI entry… Please, see also the last message.

• Further -and still on_topic- we miss means to use that feature easily, for those who need it :
1. An internal command for a button (for a shortcut and¦or a menu item, send a petition to Santa Claus),
to toggle that ON and OFF quickly.
2. To preset certain sizes of the panes, another command to save them on the fly, being sure they are saved.
Then, one could lock again, on the fly too.

Hello,
I fully agree to have the ability to toggle this function ON and OFF quickly (with a new menu option, but not only into the .ini file).
Already discussed here at the v1.96 beta stage:

Commands and management

Post by Clo »

 oops66

:) Hello !

• Well, in the thread you quote, only a GUI option was suggested…
IMHO, a couple of internal commands could do the trick too, something like:
cmd_LockBrowserSplitters (bistable).
cmd_SavePresetLayout
… and indeed like I repeat endlessly for years, a decent commands manager, languages and menus as text etc. … 8)
(Sigh…)

Hello,
You are right Clo, but an internal command associated with a customized icon into the toolbar is also a GUI option !
But basically, I prefer the internal commands way too, optionally coupled with a new menu setting.
