0.84: Copy Image does not work!
We cannot copy the image to clipboard and paste it to any other program (eg. Word).
Steps:
1. Double-click on an image to open in a new Tab
2. Edit | Copy
3. Switch to Word / Outlook
4. Edit | Paste
Expected: The image should appear in the target program
Actual: The file appears as an OLE package (IF exists) or an error message appear, if the image does not exist - for example, if we do a screenshot.

Good to have you back, m.Th. Have you tried the “Paste Special” method?

YAGMX (Yet Another GUI Mess of XnView...)
Boy... Someone should definitely rename 'Copy' to 'Copy file' - it will help a lot (users won't leave, users will be happier, users will not waste time to post here... )

Re: 0.84: Copy Image does not work!
I'd expect:
In Browser: "Edit » Copy" copies the selected file(s)
In Viewer: "Edit » Copy" copies the image's (selected) contents.
Is there something to do/fix? Can this bug report be closed?

Re: 0.84: Copy Image does not work!

Re: 0.84: Copy Image does not work!
Thank you for your fast response.m.Th. wrote:This does NOT work. See my original post.In Viewer: "Edit » Copy" copies the image's (selected) contents.
Actual behaviour: Viewer: "Edit » Copy" copies file to clipboard.
Expected behaviour: Viewer: "Edit » Copy" copies image's contents to clipboard
Consequences:
- New menu "Edit » Copy to Clipbard » File" is needed.
- Menu "Edit » Copy to Clipbard » Image data" is no longer needed because there is "Edit » Copy"
Note:
This can be fixed by simply swapping functions behind "Edit » Copy" and "Edit » Copy to Clipboard » Image data" and renaming menu item "Image data" to "File".
Reproduced

Re: 0.84: Copy Image does not work!
I don't understand, 'Edit>Copy' copy image in clipboard (with filename), where is the problem?helmut wrote: This can be fixed by simply swapping functions behind "Edit » Copy" and "Edit » Copy to Clipboard » Image data" and renaming menu item "Image data" to "File".

Re: 0.84: Copy Image does not work!
The problem is that in Viewer (view mode), Edit » Copy doesn't copy just the image data but several things to the clipboard at the same time using various types:xnview wrote:I don't understand, 'Edit>Copy' copy image in clipboard (with filename), where is the problem?helmut wrote: This can be fixed by simply swapping functions behind "Edit » Copy" and "Edit » Copy to Clipboard » Image data" and renaming menu item "Image data" to "File".
1. Path + Filename (Text)
2. Path + Filename (Unicode text)
3. Image data (Bitmap)
4. File (File)
When pasting the clipboard into Word for Windows for example, this causes the reported problems. Therefore it's better that Edit » Copy in Viewer (view mode) copies the image data to the clipboard, only, just like Edit » Copy to Clipboard » Image data currently does.
Re: 0.84: Copy Image does not work!
O.k., thank you, I can also reproduce the problem. Issue 1242 is fixed in next version.

Re: 0.84: Copy Image does not work!

Re: 0.84: Copy Image does not work!
Tested with 0.87 beta 2, fixed.
Test procedure:
Could not reproduce with Word, so used Outlook.
0.86:
View mode, Edit, Copy : copies the file as attachment. (wrong)
View mode, Edit, Copy to clipboard, Image data: copies the image in the body. (right)
Extra test: screen capture in View mode (so not a file): Edit, Copy : message Cannot find file. (wrong)

Re: 0.84: Copy Image does not work!
It just happened to me and i'm currently using 0.87 definitive.
I select a portion of the image, in the "edit" menu the "copy" command is grayed out and right click does not produce a "copy" command. [CTRL]+[C] does not copy anything.
