Hmm, I think the problem may relate to the length of the file names. Is there a maximum file name length in nconvert?

Okay, I seem to have solved it. I installed XnView 1.80.1 without uninstalling XnView 1.82.4 (although, strangely, the About box still says "1.82.4" even though I installed the older version over the newer one.

It happens when I double-click an image on my desktop, and it happens when I open XnView and drag an image to the XnView window.

Sometimes a couple of seconds pass before it crashes. Sometimes it crashes within one second.
