Okay, the problem is only with encrypted archive files that have file name encryption enabled. So, yeah, not a particularly common use-case.

I just discovered that the problem lies with some of my older 7z files, not the ones I create now. I will try to narrow down the problem.

Following message is displayed when I try to browse into a .7z file:

For display of less common format, the following option is available:
Options>General>[x]Display all image file ...
