Your issue relates to XnView Classic rather than 'MP, so could you please raise it in that forum section, if appropriate referring to this post...

I have now posted a bug report for this reported issue to assist investigation.

This post reports that images scanned using the XnView MP scanner interface report an incorrect DPI value and in turn incorrect image canvas size dimensions.

To test, scan a sheet (such an A4 page) at 300 DPI, save the file produced, and then check whether the scanned image DPI and image dimensions ...

Your images cannot be viewed as the resolution is too low, but:

Opening JPEG2000 images and maybe certain other formats at less than full resolution would require adding a setting, as presently provided for opening Camera RAW images, or in principle a pop-up when the file is loaded which might not work well.

The JPEG2000 format due to its complexity requires a lot of decoding, so opening files will inevitably generally take longer than for many other formats.
