Erratum:

/usr/bin/gimp or vlc or whatnot!

Geeezz!

I figured it out. I created a StartGimp.sh file that does:

#! /bin/sh
# Starts Gimp for XnViewMP File Associations
#
gimp

Then I right click on a pic > Open With > Configure Programs > Add > I browse down to my StartGimp.sh > And there you go!

Executable files being .bin and .run in Kubuntu, or so I found on the net, I've done a thorough search for a gimp.bin and gimp.run and vlc.bin and vlc.run, in all the system files, and I've come up with just exactly nothing. In KDE System Settings > Files ...

I'm stuck with a little glitch: I cannot open external editors, or viewers, in XnViewMP 0.61.
* I right click on a pic or vid > Open With > Associated Programs > A progress window opens, 'Examining', for a few seconds and then closes and that's about it.
* I right click again > Open With ...
