there is apparently some problem with where the program had asked me to save the ini file and database files because when I changed it back to save it in the "system folder" I did get the favorite to work. I'm reinstalling it on a fresh Kubuntu 14.04 and will leave those setting as they are when the ...

The layout setting does work and certain others do. I had turned off save history and that works. I see that Kubuntu has a folder /opt/xnview/ but the ini file is in a hidden folder under /home/mike/.xnviewmp/ Maybe there's another folder someplace else with another ini file that it's using?

It's stored in /home/.xnviewmp/
the .ini file has read and write permission for owner and group which I asume that I am since I installed Linux and all the programs and I am the only one set to use this machine.
