Hi Pierre,
Yes, I perform :
0- rename according to the exif date (can't be scripted right now)
1- rotate according to the exif field
2- recreate the thumbmail
3- edit xmp/iptc/exif tags
Today I have to perform manually 0,1 and 2, then use a custom script run with exiftool to do the 3rd (because ...

Re: Lossless Rotation based on Exif / Size change
Thank you for your answer.
To summarize:
When asking xnview to perform a batch rotation based on the exif field, it rotates the photo if needed, and whatever the rotation it changes the Huffman's table. This update of the Huffman's table results in a 15% drop of the file size. Is that correct?

Re: Lossless Rotation based on Exif / Size change
I did a new test. Two photos, one with the EXIF saying that it needs to be rotated, one already horizontal by nature.
The only changes in Exiftool are the following:
Photo that needed to be rotated
# Original
- File Size : 8.6 MB
- Orientation : Rotate 90 CW
- Y Cb Cr Sub Sampling : YCbCr4:2:2 (2 1 ...

Re: Lossless Rotation based on Exif / Size change
Thanks for the answer.
When you say little, what's little?
The file size drops by more than 1Mo. For instance from 8.8 to 7.6 or 7.5 to 6.2Mo

Lossless Rotation based on Exif / Size change
Hello,
I use the JPEG Lossless Transformation - Rotate based on Exif orientation field.
I select all the photos in one folder, and apply this transformation on every ones.
What I don't understand is:
- why there is a change of the size of the files that are rotated change whereas the height and ...

Re: Batch convert seems to alter the quality even when no action is performed
Ok then I understand that Batch Convert is not able to perform lossless actions and save them on unaltered pictures.
The only way to perform Batch Lossless Actions is to to it manually, and I can't script it.
This is what I was asking in my first message.
Questions:
- Why does the Batch ...

Re: Batch convert seems to alter the quality even when no action is performed
Hi,
Thank you for your answers and workarounds.
I tried your idea cday, putting "jpg" as the output format, with "use estimated quality (when possible)" ticked.
Unfortunately it doesn't do anything. I still get an output file of 1Mo instead of 3Mo (the size of the original one).
I reckon that ...

Re: Batch convert seems to alter the quality even when no action is performed
Sorry for that, I forgot to tell that the files are all .jpg .
Thank you for the notice of 'Load Format Settings". Unfortunately it doesn't seem to change anything to the issues I encountered.

Batch convert seems to alter the quality even when no action is performed
Hi,
The topic at this link is similar but slightly different : http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?f=82&t=35551&hilit=batch+convert+filesize
When using Batch Convert to batch edit the IPTC tags, and keeping the format "as original" (therefore "settings cannot be changed"), I noticed a change ...
