Okay, I've tested version 0.96.5 64bits (Aug 18 2020), and now the application doesn't crash when XCF greyscale images are present in the opened directory. Thanks!

I've done a few more tests and found that the crash is not necessarily caused by the 32 bit greyscale combination as such. I found another image on my desktop that is saved like that, without making Xnview crash, however, it doesn't show a preview, like other multi-layered XCF's. So, when ...
