No, folders do not show long enough before I get the bouncing ball. Everything looks and acts like the program is going to work as the screen shows the folders for a split second before the bouncing ball sets in. I then have to force quit the program.

When I start the program Xnview MP the program opens up and for a quick second I can see the folders, etc. Then it locks up and the Mac spinning ball appears. I then have to force quit Xnview MP.

Yes, when I install the older version the program works. It is only with the 98.4 version that it does not. Hope this helps.

That is correct. This happens with the newest version of Xnview MP. I have tried removing it and then reinstalling but unfortunately get the same results. Just as the program looks like it is going to work the spinning wheel begins and I have to force quit it.

Not normally meaning that once in awhile the program will load and work as it is supposed to...most of the time just as the program looks like it is going to load I get the spinning wheel and eventually have to force quit the program.

My bad, my version of the Mac is 10.13.6 High Sierra but I have the same problem. Most of the time I get the spinning wheel when clicking the MP icon to open the software. I am having the same exact problem. When I click to open the program it starts to load then I get the spinning wheel. Sometimes after restarting Xnview it will open but not normally.

I figured out what was happening as far as the dark images showing up in Xnview MP.
When exporting from darktable, the output I noticed the output was set to Linear Rec709 RGB; so, I changed the setting output to Srgb.

The lighter image is what it is supposed to look like, the darker image is how it appears in XnViewMP.
