Yes, I have "Automatically apply parent category" selected. It's super handy having that since it reduces the number of categories I have to add to everything

I'm using XnView to cull/tag images and I love it :) I'm using version 1.0.

On the Category Sets tab the Suggested section is always empty. It sounds like a cool feature that I assume would work similar to the same feature in Lightroom that I've used in the past.

This is a minor quality of life improvement.

In the Category Sets tab you can have your own sets, history, suggested, assigned.

When you select an item from your custom sets it changes the font to bold. The side effect is it makes the button a bit larger and then all the category buttons move ...

So, I installed the missing packages and now I'm able to run the XnView. Hooray :D !

Curious, when will the Edit XMP dialog be available for video files? I love XnView but I need a tool I can also set xmp metadata on video files as I mix more and more videos into my library.

Is it going to get messy having all these cf card folders (I just open xnview right on the card) added to the catalog database? Is there a way to use the category feature without adding folders and images to the database itself?

I did figure out being able to add categories to video files and that is helpful.

But I would still really like having the Edit XMP/IPTC (with save to XMP) options to also work for video files. Currently, both of those are greyed out anytime I have a video file ...

To expand on this, being able to use the Edit IPTC option with the save to XMP file along with using categories that save to XMP.

You can use "edit iptc" and select mode = XMP in last tab of iptc window...
But I think the best way is to use Categories tool, even if you don't need Xnviewmp database. Categories can easily write xmp-dc:subject (flat keywords) and xmp-lr:hierarchical subject.

I'm pretty new to XnView - so I apologize, I'm not sure what you're asking me to check.

XnView will create XMP files when I click on an image and select Edit XMP. I just don't see anywhere inside of that edit box to add keywords.
