Yes, there are some videos that are just a static picture and there is no purpose for a video file for that.
But I already used this ffmpeg script in a bat file (extracts frame at 1 second):

Currently it is not possible and it gives an error " 0x0x0 : not a picture".
Would be nice if batch convert could extract the first frame from an mp4 video for example into any image format, at least png or jpg.

This feature doesn't exist yet?
I can't find an option to group a folder of 1500 files by at least a month in common between photos to group them. I have found that digiKam has something similar though as suggested above.

Same problem. XnView just doesn't show anything related to Android device that is connected, no folders, no files. Whether it's file transfer or PTP mode - there is just blank screen.

Bump. I have similar feature suggestion. Currently there is no way to select to preserve original file date (at least from 1 file).

Tools > Compare is a very useful feature. I'm digitizing old photos and I was just looking for software that can do 100% zoom comparison between several pictures to choose the best one. I wasn't able to find any other software that can do it for free.

Are buttons at [1] lossy rotation ? Or are they both lossless rotation?

Pop up doesn't say what kind of rotation those buttons are. But Icons are different - one has file icon in it, the other one one ...

There is no metadata menu at all.. There are options to edit exif or iptc but no option to remove.

I use Pingo PNG ( https://css-ig.net/pingo ) for compressing PNGs it seems to be the best one.
