Yes, I use wayland (plasma 6). It works with wayland if I start Xnview as root.

I have the same problem with ubuntu 22.04 and XnViewMP 1.7.1

I'm using XnView 1.4.0 MP on Linux (Ubuntu 20.04) and I have the same issue. Is there a fix for Linux as well?
