Re: Drag and drop to folders pane causes freeze Linux Fedora 41

Is there any news on this? Is it a problem with QT 5.15? Perhaps I can ask the relevant people to have a look if I know more about it.

I'm running XNViewMP in a VM at the moment which isn't ideal.

xnview wrote: Sat Jan 18, 2025 5:03 pm i've tried on a clean install of fedora 41, and no problem. Do you use a X11 or wayland session?
Wayland. It's KDE not Gnome. XNViewMP was fine when I put KDE on Mint, as far as I can remember.

Thanks for looking at it. It sounds like E4474 is KDE also if he's not keen on Gnome.

Re: Drag and drop to folders pane causes freeze Linux Fedora 41

The TGZ package natively crashes the same. Or do you mean in the bottle?

Re: Drag and drop to folders pane causes freeze Linux Fedora 41

Any solution to this? I've been using the windows version in a bottle but that's decided to be unstable now too, understandably.

The message before the freeze is

Re: Drag and drop to folders pane causes freeze Linux Fedora 41

no problem here on debian or ubuntu...

Yes it didn't do it when I was in Mint, or even when I put KDE on Mint. I'm using the flatpak version, as there doesn't seem to be an rpm or other way to get a system install, I used the deb file before.

It's also doing odd things when I try and open a ...

XnView: MP 1.8.3 64-bit (Linux) - Libformat 7.196
OS: Linux Fedora 41 64bit

Re: 1.7.2 64-bit (Linux): Folder list order not consistently alphabetical

Thanks, I had no idea I could do that. The command for others on Ubuntu 24 base is:

Code: Select all

dpkg --force-all -i XnViewMP-linux-x64.deb
Seems to run as before with a quick check.

Re: 1.7.2 64-bit (Linux): Folder list order not consistently alphabetical

So I've moved my pics and gifs to EXT4 and when there are a lot of folders or a lot of files, the problem returns even on EXT4.

I don't know if there is anything in the new version (1.8 ) that could help, but I couldn't install it. I don't know if it's a problem with the deb or on Mint's end ...

As far as I can tell, it's ok on EXT4.

ok, i'll try to add a ntfs drive to check...

Thank you :) Sounds like the deleting folders (https://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?f=62&t=47674) is the same issue, and consistent so easier to check. Sorry for not spotting that it was NTFS only ...

on your system do you have gvfs-trash or gio?

gio 2.80.0

gvfs I have, gvfs-trash I am not sure.

mint@mint-XXXX:~$ apt list --installed | grep gvfs

Re: 1.7.2 64-bit (Linux): Folder list order not consistently alphabetical

do you have same problem on EXT3/4 drive?

I am not certain. New folders certainly drop at the bottom, and it doesn't update. Whether the reading is sometimes wrong I haven't seen, as I don't have media on ext4.

I will try and have a faff and see if it happens. It happens more often with more ...

Re: 1.7.2 64-bit (Linux): Folder list order not consistently alphabetical

No it does it when reading folder lists only. i.e. if I click the + to expand a folder list in the folder pane, or double click a folder in what I'm calling the thumbnail pane to expand it. But it's inconsistent.

It would be good if it could refresh the folder pane sort order on F5. Which makes ...
