I have switched the startup app opening targeted folder to a blank empty folder, then restarted my iMac. It's possible this action freed up cache that kept XnViewMP from opening immediately. Anyway, I switched the targeted opening folder from the empty folder to the image folder of 2000 images and ...

Beachball opening

19,1 iMac, 3.6 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9, 64GB Ram, Sonoma 14.1.1, XnView 1.6.1

Why does it take many turns of the system beachball to open XnView. I have it set to open one folder of 2000 images. Does it need each time to open the application & cache the folder thumbnails? I use 64GB Ram. :x

Nevermind, I tried converting to a jpeg, and that solved the problem. I don't understand why a file ending w .jpg wouldn't be a jpg.

Sir, I do not see on this page how to change a white background to black for its file name. All my files have black backgrounds for their file names except this one. I cannot understand where the file background shows on this page. If I see where the white is indicated I would change it.

change the background color of a photo image file name

I have forgotten how to change the background color of a photo image file name. Where in the instructions is the way to change the file name background color of any photo file kept in XnView-MP? See attached screen shot:
