Thanks Tommy. Now we have at least four people who would love to see Pierre add an option regarding the fill or delete color. Thanks for considering the option, Pierre.

Hello Clo,

Thanks for the interesting and informative reply.

I would suggest a minor change to the wording you have proposed. Rather than "Choose the filling colour", it should be the "fill" colour. Although "filling" it is technically correct, we American English speakers use the word "filling ...

Did this (getting a "select color for deleted area") ever happen? When one edits an image for printing and deletes portions of the image, having them print as huge black blocks on the page is not good. I agree with Guest who asked for option to make the deleted area white instead of black.

If ...

Thanks again, Troken.

I was being a little short-sighted. Of course XnView allows sorting by things other than filename. I guess what I meant was that I could not put them in the order I wanted; the order has to be some quantifiable thing--name, create date, size, etc. My situation is that I have a ...

Hi Troken,

Thanks for your tips, comments, feedback. I was focused on "create web pages" and forgot that I had implied also "create contact sheets." I see now that adding various pieces of info to contact sheets is easily done. There doesn't seem to be an equivalent for web pages, however. Or ...

Additional comments

Having done a little more generation of web pages using this wonderful XnView feature (it makes a lot of work very very easy!), I have two other suggestions in addition to the earlier one about order:

2. Image Title: It would be nice if there were a way to give the image a title other than the file ...

Deskew

I also have had trouble deskewing. In my case I'm trying to straighten a gray picture that is slightly tilted but which has no horizontal lines. So I can't use deskew.

I don't know if it would be worth the trouble for P to program, but I've seen a nice solution to this problem. When you click on ...

Version numbers on release files

I work in a rapidly-changing software release environment, and we always--for the past 15 years or so--label releases with their version number. This obviously is not necessary for new users, but it is a nice gesture and convenience for the people who update frequently and who want to try out the ...

This problem occurs frequently in Windows in general: (a) the file name is much longer than the space available to display it, and (b) it's the actual filename--at the right end of the long path/name--that is the worthwhile information.

The solution, in my opinion, is to set the properties of the ...

Restore vs. Remove

"Restore" means to "put back to how it was before." So:

1. Program ABC is the player for JPG files

2. I use "Associations" to make XnView the new player for JPG files

3. I use this for a while, and decide I don't like it.

4. I come back to "Associations" and click on the "Restore All" button ...

Minor wording change/fix

1. On the "Strip of Images" dialog box, there are buttons that say "Horizontal adjustment" and "Vertical adjustment." The word "adjustment" is not right; it should be "alignment."

2. On the same dialog box, and only because you're there fixing the above, you can remove "respectively" from the line ...

Help

Hello Helmut,

Thanks for the reply. I'm going to be out of touch on Thursday and Friday, but will answer on Saturday.

From looking at the existing help file, and comments on the forum, and the menu layout of today's XnView, I have a big question for you: If I invest many hours to make the help ...

HTML Help (chm)

Gentlemen,

What's the current status of (English) help? I have the latest version of XnView, and my Help file is quite a bit out of date. Is there another, more recent version available?

If not, I'd like to help write one. I generate help files (CHM mostly) for my regular job, and know a little ...
