Multi-CPU

HT/Multi Core systems get rather popular these days
But there are also many Pentium 2...3 systems 200...500 MHz around.

Please keep XNView working on such older systems.

File open bug

Could you explain me more, i can't reproduce it??? You means File/Open menu??

Yes, I mean "File" -> "Open", "File" -> "Open in Hex mode", CTL-O, CTL-H,
and the direct "Open" (having many possible symbols available) button
(supposed to display the directory) do not work.

Images are accessible ...

Compress

I vote for 7-ZIP.

Other compression programs: :)

(small but useful nevertheless)

- KZIP (create smaller ZIP's than PKZIP or any other ZIP program)

- PNGOUT (compresses PNG's better than XNview)

This new version adds a histogram in the "browser". :)

But there is none in the main view - is this intentional ?

The current DOS version seems to have DOS4GW built into NConvert.Exe

WRONG. What it has built-in is ONLY the DOS\4GW LOADER (and this
piece of fool code occupies 12 KB :bug: ), and requires additionaly the
separate "DOS4GW.EXE" file adding 260 KB :bug: more of highly inefficient code.

Nconvert versions 4.57 / 4.55 / 3.87 & DOS

..

What is the newest version of Nconvert ?

Download page offers 4.55, but it is in fact 4.57, dating from 7.3.2006.

I also tried to download a DOS version, but there was only a "MS-DOS"
("MS-DOS" died 1993) one, quite obsolete, v. 3.87, dating from 3.12.2002,
using DOS/4GW, terribly obsolete ...
