Re: Different size/position of browser and viewer

Please bring back to have the possibility to have different size and position of viewer and browser Unfortunately the interface option "Use different position/size for browser & view" had been removed. Imo that is restricted regarding individual needs ..... Maybe it is by concept that the same wind...

Re: Comparing the Compare

...oh, and not to forget: Every time when an Image in the Compare panel is closed, the engine should update the layout . Now the behavior is a little bit erratical, especially when we open 4 images and start to close one by one. The rearrangement occurs only some times (depending on the order on whi...

Comparing the Compare

Hi, Me again. :D If we'll compare the Compare module with other programs will find it very similar with ACDSee's one. :) ...also we see some ideas from FastStone Viewer, isn't it? Or, perhaps, FastStone copied also from ACDSee... Firstly, there are some minor mistakes carried on: ACDSee's compare en...

Drawing engine shows tiles on big images

Take a landscape image @ 22 MPix (for ex. photos from Canon 5D2 or, better, 5DMk3) and display them in Full Screen (by pressing F11). Actually I have the Full Screen mode set up on the 2ndary monitor but I don't think that matters. Display them at 100% and after that at 'zoom to fit'. In both cases ...

Right Click Menu in Folders Panel isn't Right

The Right Click Menu in Folders pane ... ... lacks Cut, Copy and Paste . 'Nuff said. (ok, perhaps is difficult to implement since we're cross-platform but it is a show stopper, you know...). What's fun tough, is that you have in the main menu above Cut, Copy, Paste... why you cannot use the engines ...

Re: IPTC: edit panel in the main interface?

I would also find this feature extremely helpful. In trying to find an alternative to Adobe Bridge, I stumbled upon this program, which I'm liking. However, the assigning and viewing of keywords is kinda a hassle. I have hundreds of photos with keywords assigned (through Bridge) that I use extensiv...

Re: Shared Categories in local network

OTOH, SQLite (XnView's the database backend) is single user - the engine locks the entire file so there is NO possibility of concurent Read/Write on database. However, you can Read from the db. IOW, the first one who opens the db has read/write access the others read-only. If this scenario suits fo...

Re: Shared Categories in local network

Usually this situation is handled by logging locally on your computer through the LAN/Server interface. IOW, in Windows therms, don't catalog the photos from F:\Photos\foo but make a share from F:\Photos (let's call it "SharedPhotos") and if your PC is called MyComputer then point your XnView to \\...

Re: Shared Categories in local network

Hello Same question - with network access on Linux i unse .db file on network (only this file, .ini files are located in user directory) but as every computer access to this file with its own path (/home/USER/.gvfs/NETWORK DRIVE) as i add categories with one computer i can see categorized elements ...

Copy To / Move To... Dangers and Problems

Some problems which are shared between "Copy To" and "Move To" dialogs: If the path isn't ended with a "\" then it is interpreted as a file. This is very dangerous. I don't want to accidentaly rename my serial numbered photos to "reception". When I press Alt+M (Move To...) I want to move all my sele...

How to: Categories Management - Categories Panel

A picture is worth 1000 words: CatPanel.jpg (Please be sure to see the entire picture - it seems that phpBB engine puts a scrollbar on the right) This is a very quick draft of a panel which would make the Categories assignment much more easier. In the upper part we have a Drop Down Combo Box in whic...

How to: Categories Management - Shortcuts

XnViewMP's category engine is quite bare-bone. However with few tweaks the power of this subsystem can be greatly enhanced. And let's start it one by one, breaking the things in individual messages in order to be easier to discuss and track. First, we'll talk about the shortcuts. Knowing that 80% of...

Some tools in browser mode - or visual batch convert

Hi, There are situations (especially when someone is digitizing books or other objects, for example) in which we need to crop many images in batch, or to do some other batch operations. The 'Transformations' page from the 'Batch convert' dialog is rather cryptic. Perhaps you can put these tools/tran...
