if you have images with differing aspect ratios in one row, this won't work well.
Admittedly, it works best when all the images are the same aspect ratio. However, it still works very well for mixed aspect ratios - as you can see in this example:

Re: 6 requests concerning zoom levels
Thanks again, Helmut :) Glad I bumped this thread yesterday! I am so grateful for your help.
The only remaining feature I think would vastly improve XnView is my idea for Equal height thumbnails , but there hasn't been any activity on that thread since I posted the idea in February so I assume it's ...

Re: 6 requests concerning zoom levels
I want to first point you to the setting "Zoom step" in View > View. Here you can fine-tune zooming. Set Zoom step to "Relative" and the factor to 1.2 and you'll have about the zooming that you suggested in your initial post.

Is there any way to know if suggestions are being considered, or if this issue will ever be addressed?

6 requests concerning zoom levels
I want to suggest 6 ways to improve the zoom (for when you use the mouse wheel to zoom in/out)...
1. More zoom stages.
This is my main complaint: There are nowhere near enough stages for the zoom. It goes from 100% to 200% to 300%. This is way too abrupt.
I have done some experimentation and ...

Re: FullScreen <> Browser switching
Sorry if this is offtopic, but I have a question. I use XnView Classic and have it set up to launch images fullscreen then switch between fullscreen and browser. However, this means I can't do a "select zoom" as that feature doesn't work in fullscreen. Is it possible in MP to use "select zoom" while ...

Re: Crashes if path is long or contains foreign characters
Thanks for the reply Cday :)
XnView Classic doesn't support Unicode characters, only XnView MP and XnConvert
I thought XnView MP was really just for Mac or Linux users?
I have just found a list of differences between XnView and XnView MP , but I still don't get why there are two versions? Could ...

Crashes if path is long or contains foreign characters
I have had a problem with XnView for a long time now. When I open an image, the program always crashes if:
1. The folder path contains foreign characters (eg עִבְ or 漢字)
or
2. The folder path is longer than about 237 characters

Re: Global Request & Suggestion list *Read this first*
Please could you add my recent suggestion to the list, under the "Browser" category:
- Equal Height Thumbnails
I really would like to see this become a part of XnView and hope Pierre will look at it/consider it - I have even outlined exactly how it can be programmed. (Note, there have been ...

Re: Equal-height Thumbnails (Like Google image search)
I've made another illustration, this time using real images in a real folder on my hard drive. At this scale, only 1 extra thumbnail is visible, but the thumbnails are generally slightly larger and look neater:

Re: Equal-height Thumbnails (Like Google image search)
try also with some pictures with ratio=1.
Square images are not too common, so I don't think I'll bother making another illustration just for that (I have to calculate all the sizes manually and it takes time).
Bear in mind, the point is not really about how much bigger the thumbnails are - you ...

Hello,
... Interesting but only/mostly in the case of sort by ratio.
That's not true! It makes no difference what order the images are in.
Here's another example of a typical folder with mixed ratios. Note how many more thumbnails you see on the right, and how they are generally all bigger ...

Re: My prefs stopped working
Now I think about it, yes, there might have been a crash. XnView doesn't tend to work when I view images in folders that have foreign language characters. I now I recall, I was trying to view a foreign language folder and I think it did crash.
