Re: Display MWG-Regions and names on image
Still not working with Picasa metadata. With "update catalog from files", XnViewMP V0.98.1 reads the names written by Picasa ( xmp-mwg-rs:RegionName ) : Solved Maybe "Update catalog from files" works, if people existed in the catalog before Even if people did not exist before, with "update catalog ...

Re: Categories panel/tree data not updating at startup
it seems that you have lost the functioning of the database (the catalogue), perhaps because the photos have been moved, or the functioning of the "new" xnviewmp is no longer in line with the old catalogue. To re-establish this link between the keywords and the catalogue, you can use the "add" butto...

Re: Backup everything
You can check modified dates of files in Xnviewmp's installation folder ... Some settings like toolbars are saved in .bar files etc. Categories names can be exported, and links with photos also. If categories are not written in metadata, xnview.db file must be backuped ( backed up? 🤪 ) Edit : Sorry ...

Re: Edit of IPTC not showing in other Programs
When I use the IPTC Editor to write initial IPTC, this information displays correctly in other programs. Now, here is the huge problem, and this has affected thousands of my images before I caught it --- when I edit the IPTC again, whether to add new information or to correct information, this new ...

Re: New category "People"
But "People" is just binary, and if I needed that I could very simple define a category for that by myself. Names of people that have been recognized by softwares such as Picasa, Microsoft Windows Gallery (maybe others ?) are written in some XMP metadata. I have more than 100 different person names...

XnViewMp can sometimes use ExifTool but ExifTool is only an add-on here.

Re: Missing "Date taken" in EXIF
Yes, I noticed the same thing this afternoon, exiftool needs 4 digits for hhmm ... If your filenames ( _xxx) does not contain any digit, you can first use Tools, Batch rename in XnviewMP to add an arbitrary timestamp In the first field, set {filename}_#### This will add four digits Then you can set ...

Re: Missing "Date taken" in EXIF
This man is a genius  . Phil Harvey is the creator of ExifTool. I processed many filenames formats containing dates with this simple parameter: -k "-AllDates<filename" -overwrite_original In most cases, I get a warning, but the work is well done Exif dates and file dates are updated with the ...

Re: Display MWG-Regions and names on image
It seems working with Microsoft metadata. But Neither browsing an existing folder nor Update catalog from files can create new people The only way is to delete / add folder in settings, catalog. XnViewMP does read RegionPersonDisplayName Edit: Maybe "Update catalog from files" works, if people exist...

Re: Missing "Date taken" in EXIF
First question: Can I find these photos through a filter? An idea would be to sort photos by 'date taken' : - View, view files in subfolders. - View, view as, details - View , Sort by , Date taken ... so you can select a set at the top or the bottom of the list When I have found them: Can I set the...
