I think this option is not quite useful. Is there any scenario when it is useful (except 'user changed his mind for no special reason')? X. When you deal with heavy image management and sorting, it is very useful. When there is a lot of files, it's often necessary to sort by name, type, time, etc. ...

I guess so, because any solution will make conflict when the options indicate different settings (single vs multiple Views).

Anyway, one to be removed in the future.

OK, so, without nitpicking, there are two approaches to header scanning (I omit things that are the same): mine- linear reading and display of files (simpler to implement, faster FINAL display- accurate, somewhat more natural) yours- 3 pass reading and display of files (more complicated and error pr...

Re: rc2: multiple view options conflict.

I agree with you for the rest. Just about that: 1. 'General>Open one view per selected image' checked and View>Only one view opened' unchecked. 'Open one view' is checked but still Open>File opens multiple Views. Bad. Why 'bad'? I decided To 'Open one view per selected image', and when I use 'Open'...

And the worst thing is that it cannot be changed, neither by those who want speed nor by those who want compatibility. It is proposed as an option, as I considered your comment (=> extension only OR scan all headers) . OK, that's better. In your post dated Wed Jan 18, 2006 9:32 it looked to me as t...

Re: rc2: multiple view options conflict.

I understood 'Open one view per selected image' as 'Open every image of the selection' (in opposition to 'open first image of selection', apparently... which is not a good choice: should be last/current focused) . But the name is confusing... I understand it the same ways and still find my bugs val...

I guess Dante would like instant pointer hiding. Me too, sometimes it stays on display for quite a few seconds.

The point is to implement a single method that is well designed enough to handle all situations in the best way possible. I think you are wrong here. The point is to provide a method of handling files with wrong extensions, while maintaining maximum speed in everyday work. Header scanning is not ev...

You mean 'Open all' superseding limit forced by some option (let's say it's 'Only one view opened')? So what happens if 'Only one view opened' is set, you use Open all to open 4 images, and then you Open another image? Active View is replaced? Or images handled by Open all are handled separately fro...

rc2: multiple view options conflict.

EDIT: This post has been heavily edited because of errors. Fortunately still it remains valid. 3. 'General>Open one view per selected image' checked and View>Only one view opened' checked. Open from File>Open opens single View (multiple files selected)- conflict with 1st option. Open from RMB>Open ...
