Re: File format settings

This has been suggested before and received support:
Add "Format settings" in settings dialog
Oh, I haven't seen the existing topic. Perhaps a mod can merge this topic with the older one.

They should be available in the [Tools > Settings...] dialog.
Or possibly in Tools > Format settings... if ...

Re: Next/previous file buttons

^ I can confirm this wrong sort order when starting XnView directly in view mode.

Tested with XnView v2.33 (2015-06-18) on Windows 7 64 bit SP1.

Re: Make a New Folder and Name It

It is still not working as expected: When I create a new folder, it gets the name "New Folder 1" (or a higher number). The rename mode is activated, and the cursor is placed at the end of the name. If I now enter a name, e.g. "test", and press "enter", the folder will be named "New Folder 1test ...

If I use the browser to display files in subfolders with "Browser menu > View > Show files in subfolders", the toolbar button "Up one level" doesn't work.

Tested with XnView v2.33 (2015-06-18) on Windows 7 64 bit SP1.

"Show files in subfolders": Toolbar button and menu

There is a button "Show files in subfolder" (plural "s" missing) in the browser toolbar. I would suggest that it toggles between activated and deactivated when clicking on it (similar to the grid button in the viewer toolbar). Furthermore, there should also be a menu entry for this function in the ...

"Show files in subfolders" lost when viewing a file

If I choose to display all files in subfolders in the browser via "Browser Menu > View > Show files in subfolders", then open one of the files in the viewer, the display of the files in subfolders in the browser is lost. Instead, the folder with the viewed file is displayed.

Tested with XnView v2 ...

More spin buttons

I'd like to suggest to add spin buttons for several number boxes in the settings to make it possible to change them with the mouse:
1) General > Keyboard/Mouse > Scroll value
2) General > Read/Write: Several sub menus
3) Interface: Limit tab caption to
4) Browser > File list > File list > Files ...

File format settings

I think that the file format settings are difficult to find in "Viewer menu > File > Format settings...".
They should be available in the settings dialog.
And it would be good if they would be accessible via a "Settings" button in the save dialog when saving a file. Then there should be an option ...

Show button for Info Pane

In "Main menu > View > Info Pane" I'm missing a "Show" button like in "Main menu > View > Data Pane". And perhaps a default shortcut would be useful.

Simplified Tab Handling

Working with tabs and the related settings is rather difficult in XnView, especially for new users. I think that the core of the problem is that XnView opens images in a new tab by default . So to simplify and improve working with tabs, I have the following suggestions:

1) There should be a default ...

MP: "Hide title bar" on/off unmaximizes window

If I maximize the XnViewMP window, then select Menu > View > Hide title bar (Ctrl+F11), then unselect it again, the window will be unmaximized.

Re: Read one image backward (reverse pre-cache)

It still doesn't work on the first viewed image in XnView v2.32 (2015-03-16). :bug:

In this case, the next and the previous image need to be decoded in advance.

An advanced feature would be to specify the number of images to be decoded in advance and to keep in memory, e.g.:

[ ] Decode next ...
