Perhaps a timing issue, perhaps name clashes (which are checked beforehand by XnView and which should not occur).
Could you resize all your image files to let's say 50x50 pixel by using multi conversion and outputting them in a new folder. Then please try whether the problem still occurs with the ...

Could you please try whether you can reproduce the problem with a smaller number of files (e.g. you could gradually halfen the number of files).

From my point of view, only the most important functions should be available in the context menu. I agree with 'Print' and 'Describe'. Are 'Edit IPTC data' and 'Set as wallpaper' also used often?

hi,
in browser-mode, try to browse into a folder with a lot of pics in it and which is not in the cache. (so building the thumbs takes longer, because time this is needed for this testcase)
as the thumbs are generated,
press STRG-A to select all files
press F2 to rename all the files
