The most important is to backup/restore your xnview.ini & .db

The location of the .ini and the various database files can be found in Tools > Settings... > Integration -- Paths tab.

Thanks, I can found about the files from C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Roaming\XnViewMP , Is there using both backup xnview.ini and Thumb.db only for re-store? or need other files like as registration file to cover?

Do they(*.ini & *.db) include all documented image categories, tags and rating?

For many years, such as picture classification, marking, and rating, I am worried that if the picture or folder is changed after reinstalling windows, it will affect the re-store of the backup files?

do you use catalog only? (no embedded metadata)
Files must have same modified date as catalog

In XnViewMP, I only use categories filter with a rating, people, categories. What mean is no embedded metadata?

If the backup .db file as catalogs and path for D driver, is it only needed to restore/replace .db and .ini after reinstall windows easily?

Settings to store rating/people in embedded metadata (Settings>Metadata)
