The location of the .ini and the various database files can be found in Tools > Settings... > Integration -- Paths tab.

Thanks, I can found about the files from C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Roaming\XnViewMP , Is there using both backup xnview.ini and Thumb.db only for re-store? or need other files like as registration file to cover？

do you use catalog only? (no embedded metadata)
Files must have same modified date as catalog

In XnViewMP, I only use categories filter with a rating, people, categories. What mean is no embedded metadata?

Settings to store rating/people in embedded metadata (Settings>Metadata)
