Browser, at the top folder is set, for example: X:\Photos
In the search box some regex term.
It will show the photos according to the regex but only in \Photos
How to have XnViewMP (1.6.4) search thru all the sub folders as well?
Thanks.
How to search in all subfolders?

Re: How to search in all subfolders?
"Quick filter" (previous name = quick search) works only on displayed files in the browser.
So a solution is to use "View>Show files in subfolders" ...
But if your X:\Photos contains thousands of photos, it will not be efficient.
You can use "Search" function instead... which offers "récursive" option.

Re: How to search in all subfolders?
First of all, I am deeply sorry for not responding earlier.
For one reason or the other, your reply slipped my attention.
(At the time I was facing problems synchronizing Outlook desktop with smartphone, it took many days to solve)
Thanks for the below.
Indeed that is a nice solution.
Oh, BTW, I noticed the following and I am not sure if it is correct.
Say, XnViewMP is in browser mode.
Then do a search,
select any of the file in the results window panel
click on browse,
it will then replace the existing tab (with the previous browse)
From my point of view that may not always be convenient, it would be better to open the '2nd browse' in a separate tab.
Checked settings, but I am not sure if there is some setting to avoid this.
(Could very well be that I am overlooking something)
Any suggestions?
Thanks again.

Re: How to search in all subfolders?
You canThen do a search,
select any of the file in the results window panel
click on browse,
- Right click on a selected photo and choose "Open containing folder"
- Open the photo in view mode (double click) and then close the tab (depending on Settings > Interface > Synchronise browser when view is closed )
- Use the drop down field "search result" to select previously used folders in the history.
Opening a second browser is not a standard feature in XnviewMP ...
look for the words "figured out" in this forum to find a non-official method
It would be a good idea to have the ability of opening a second browser with search results
