"Compare" utility. Adding a button to unlink the views

Post by jeeg »

The compare utility inside Xnview is used to compare two pictures of the same size. When you pan the first view the second one move too.
But sometimes is it useful to compare two picture of different size.
If the first picture is very big and the second very small that's impossible to compare them bacuse when you pan the first view the second one move to the wrong position.

I would like a button on the interface of the compare utility to unlink the views.
When you click the button you can move the view indipendently and so you can see freely what you want in each view.

I hope you will add it because I have to compare pictures of different size but almost identical very often and I cannot see the same detail on both.

Another useful thing should be the possibility to compare pictures that are in different folders. I don't know how to do it in Xnview.

I support jeeg's requests, and also this related suggestion from FlorianH:
FlorianH (comparing images from different directories) wrote:2) Linking could be absolute or relative. Relative means there is f.e. one tab with image at 70% which shows upper right corner of image and another tab which shows center of second image at 30%. If zoom / pan is linked relative, zooming in one step would result in zoom factors 80% and 40%. Right now, this is not possible in compare window.

I agree with Florian!
This idea of the relative/absolute switch is great.
It could solve my problem in an easy way.

I hope it will be added soon...I need it almost everyday.
