Buttons of the selection box

Is there any possibility to enlage the little sqares at the edges and in the middle of the lines in the selection or to change the color of lines and sqares?
Sometimes it is very difficult to find and hit the squares and change the size of the selection (vs. Gimp).

Thank you für the link, I didn't know ist.
I inserted the following settings in the view chapter (CheckerColor1,CheckerColor2,CheckerSize), but I could not see any changes.
