0.39-Linux: Symlinked Images not shown

Post by scott092707 »

In June of 2010, the Topic "v.0.26(L) Symlinked images not shown" appeared, in which it was noted that:
"I imagine it is already known, but a folder filled with image symlinks are not displayed with v.0.26. The curious part is that these were recognized by the windows version using wine interface."

As of January 2012, with version 0.39-Linux, it still is not showing symlinked images.

I have a bunch of photos.
Some of these I copied to my Favorites folder.
I now took some of those and symlinked them to a folder "Photos For Stock", as I didn't want three copies of the same photo cluttering up my hard drive (or even more - if I upload to more than one stock photo company, there will be a sub-folder of "Photos for Stock" for each of them, as naturally, I will want to keep track of which photo went to which company...).
I placed a non-symlinked photo there as a template, and was going to set the metadata for creator, copyright, etc. that would be the same for each photo and use that info for all other photos.
The only photo that MP sees is this one non-symlinked photo.
None of the symlinked photos is shown.

Is there some option that I've missed, or is there a work-around, that will cause MP to "see" symlinked photos?
