"Only one instance" options and fullscreen mode
If I check "Only one instance" in "Misc." options, it is imposible to view image in full mode, instead of it image is displayed in full window and I have to use "Fullscreen" icon. But if I start XnView directly by clicking image in folder everything is OK, but sometimes main panel with Start menu in Windows stay displayed. Is it a bug? (Version 1.66). I need only one instance because each time I view image and return back by doubleclick, a new window (instance) with XnView is open - I don't understand this behaviour, after viewing 10 pictures, XnView is launched ten times. Is it common or do I something in a wrong way?
As I can see you have two problems. Let's start with your second problem:
On Win 2000 and XP the task bar is shown and not automatically hidden if an application has new output (message box, updated screen). In the taskbar the appropriate task blinks or is selected (blue). With the current settings, when double-clicking on an image, a second instance of XnView is started which will check the flag "Only one instance", then pass control to the first instance of XnView and then exit. Perhaps Windows considers the new image to be new output and therefor displays the taskbar. This is really just a guess. But once your initial problem is solved, this one will not matter unless other users experience this problem, too.
I think that some settings in the options cause this trouble. In the options, category "Browser" please have a look at the option "Use shell context to open image". If this checkbox is checked, XnView will start the application associated with the file. This is intended for opening the standard graphic software to view and edit your images (e.g. Adobe Photoshop). If XnView is associated with the file you want to open, a second instance of XnView will be started. I think this is what you are experiencing. So just uncheck this option and this should work fine, again.Orictes wrote:...each time I view image and return back by doubleclick, a new window (instance) with XnView is open. ...
Not sure which platform you are using. I assume with "Main panel" you mean the Windows task bar at the bottom of the screen.Orictes wrote:...But if I start XnView directly by clicking image in folder everything is OK, but sometimes main panel with Start menu in Windows stay displayed. Is it a bug?
