Post by soulky »

2 times I have deleted a file from within the explorer and 2 times it results in complete unresponsivness. It shows the Windows hourglass and halted completely.

It is a flv file. Yes it happened 2 times now. I have chosen not to kill the process this time and now 15 minutes after my posting it resumed working again.
So I had the hourglass for almost 15 minutes after deletion of one file. :?

I think i found out something about it.
It still happens that I cannot delete a file. Then the popup comes up saying that this file is in use. The file is removed from the browser but still there. In old version I had to close xnviemp and start it again to see this file again in the browser. With the new version it seems that it recovers these lost files automatically because I can see them at the end of the browser now.
However:
1. This process takes 5 to 10 minutes while xnview is completely unresponsive.
2. I see this only as a workaround. The error has not been fixed: Still when a file cannot get deleted because it is in use (whatever this means) it gets removed from the view. This should not happen. And it should not happen that a file cannot get deleted (the file is obviously NOT in use so I cannot see why I get this error in the first place).

EDIT: Found out something more. It just happend when I done following steps, maybe it is reproducable:

1. I try to delete a file (file A).
2. I get the popup that the file is in use and cannot get deleted.
3. I click OK and the popup goes away.
4. File A is removed from the browser view.
5. Everything seems to work normally. No hourglass, xnviewmp is responsive.
6. I select another file for deletion (file B).
7. File gets deleted immediately without popup or other problems.
8. But now xnviewmp gets unresponsive. Hourglass kicks in, no action possible. (While it surely doing something behind the scenes)
9. After a while (5 to 10 minutes) file A is back as last file in the browser.

So it seems that the unresponsivness is caused by the process which puts back the file into the browser. However it also just happend when I deleted some files without previous error message. It seems that there is some background process kicking in on deletion which causes xnviemp to stall.
