Hello, I have the exact same problem as in Elendil0 ("When I go to Options Associations, "jpg" is already checked ; I uncheck then check again => it generates an error window "ERR5, msg1, OK"."). Association does not work :( . Installed from the installation file 1.98.8 on Win 64bit. Please tell me how to fix this bug. Thank you

Hi,
The same problem - XnView 1.98.8, Win7 x64 - i've got error messages "ERR5, msg1, OK" when try to set file associations. Is there any solution for this problem?
Thanks.

upd: Before I have installed new version I try to set associations using old version (1.91.5) which I copied from my old PC.

Do you start XnView with admin rights?

Yes, I do. This do not solve the problem. BTW I try later to do the same with XNViewMP (I've run 'Associate files with XnViewMP.exe' with adm rights) - it said that there is error and suggest to run program with adm right although it already had adm rights. Actually it set associations for some formats, but not for all - it seems that this tool set associations for formats, which I didn't try to use with XNView before.

Yes, previous version didn't set associations at all, that is why I decide to try new version.

I've solved this problem (it seems that it is not problem of the XNView) - there was an checkbox "special permissions" checked in the column "forbid" in the permissions dialog (I have russian win7, so I do not know exactly which names this items have in english version) for my user for registry keys like

Code: Select all

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.jpeg\UserChoice]
and so on (not for all extensions, for those which XNView can't associate only). I have reset permissions for all

Code: Select all

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts]
area (remove the tick "special permissions") and now both XNView and XNViewMP can set associations for this files.
