What info lines won't wrap (that should)

Post by Silversleeves »

In Browser mode: anything in the XMP tab when XMP data is present in a file.
If we can't have the XMP tab in the Windows native versions look quite as neat & tidy as the one in MP, the very least we can expect is that it doesn't display its data all on one line. It makes copy&paste a hassle, for starters.

In View mode: The Instructions text block in Edit:Metadata:Edit IPTC data, Caption pane.
That text area has to be at least two lines high, using the default font and size for that dialog box and panes, yet it doesn't wrap at the far right end (limit?) and start a new line below it.

Am I the only one who uses the Windows native version for whom the above is true? (I honestly hope not.)

Contrast either of the above with one "info line that does wrap but shouldn't". I have, from time to time, used Cygwin BASH and Exiv2 to write a multi-line Caption into a JPEG file. One with line breaks in it. In this instance, the line breaks are not recognized, and words run together. I've taken to adding extra spaces to the end of my formatted lines to accommodate, but IMO I don't think I, or anyone else, should have to do so.

But having said that much, I hope some attention can be paid to the XMP pane and Special Instructions text rectangle mentioned at the beginning of this post.

Thanks for giving this a read.
