Pentax PEF raw files

Just downloaded vsn1.99 yesterday, and it does not work well with my Pentax raw files. Image display is very slow; previews take about 5 seconds to display, and opening the image takes more than 20 seconds. Also had a crash waiting for a response. Is anyone else having this trouble? Large JPGs made from my PEFs display quickly and well. I am running Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1 on an ASUS A7K with AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-58 @ 1.9 GHz, 2GB ram, and 32 bit operating system.
