XnView MP 0.50 win64 - Search Results on NTFS drive

Post by deffkryz »

Hello there,

I appreciate your great work on completely rebuilding XnView from scratch and have been really fond of 0.39. But after switching to 0.50, I've encountered some problem with the results after using MP's search on a NTFS drive that has a folder structure which contains symbolic links. 0.39 returned results without showing duplicate - 0.50 now does as the old XnView did.

Is there a way to return to the 0.39 behaviour?

Erm... seems like I was ambigous. Sorry. :(

I've got here an ntfs formatted drive with Symbolic links/symlinks/soft links within the folder structure. So an image may be accessible through two or three different paths.

For example, an image is accessible through P:\1\2\3\image.png. By entering

Code: Select all

mklink /d P:\1 P:\A
in the command line of Vista and 7, the image becomes available through P:\A\2\3\image.png, too.

If you run now the image search with MP 0.39 simply looking for "ima", the search returns only the file on P:\1\2\3\image.png whether the symlink exists or not. If you use MP 0.50 or the old XnView, the search returns both P:\1\2\3\image.png and P:\A\2\3\image.png.

I hope it's clearer now. :(

Strange, i have not changed that in 0.50. So you don't want that 'Search' follow link, right?
I have 2 results on 0.39 too
