RC2 & 1.74: File index is misssing in status bar

Not that I would know much about it, but couldn't the calculations (about number of files) be done in a thread and when it is finished the display is updated with the correct number/number?

the delay will be there anyway as soon as you switch to the next or previous image. why not have it up-front?
