Suggestion - Save As enchantment

in past XnView had Format Settings button in Save As window, and personally for me, that was quite useful -is there a chance to get same in MP?
yet, i always had problems when i made a simple crop of image and "save as" = new variant almost ever was larger(in Kb) > it could be good if Save As show size of file to be saved, depending on format and its Write settings.

can someone please advice a good method to efficiently understand which option in Write settings makes edited image larger ?
