Status Bar contents

Post by JohnEvans »

Its very useful to use the right-hand side of the Status Bar to display
the text of jpg-embedded Comments. But, for me, the file Properties that
are displayed on the left-hand side are superfluous. Is there any way
that I can suppress the display of some or all of the left-hand
Properties so that more of the Status Bar is available for Comment?

Funny, I'm the exact opposite. I couldn't care less about comments (I don't think I even have any images which contain comments), but I do often find the left-hand status bar stuff useful.
I would however like to get rid of the filename from the statusbar. The filename is already displayed in the titlebar, and in the tab, so having it in the statusbar too is extremely redundant.

Interesting. Point taken. In my case though its the facility to use Comment on the Status Bar that's the handy item. I add explanatory texts to photos, which can then be displayed at the same time as their main pictures. The advantage of using Comment for this is that its embedded in the jpg and so gets archived, copied, etc, automatically along with the
photo itself. 'Description' is not embedded this way but is stored separately, which complicates subsequent archiving, copying, etc. However, the real point is that we would both like to be able to control the items displayed on the left-hand side of the Status Bar.
