Problem with rendering PNG thumbnails

Post by JohnFredC »

I have held off reporting this bug for a while, but the latest versions of MP (0.51) and XnView Legacy (1.91.1) both show it. More info below the image.

The problem on occurs only with PNGs. The cache settings (previously at "Lossy - low quality (JPG)" and currently at "Lossless (Zip)") all show the same problem.

I have tried rebuilding thumbs. In Legacy rebuilding simply repeats the problem. In MP, selecting Rebuild from the menu does not appear to execute the rebuild (i.e., nothing appears to happen).

I'll bet the PNGs are 32 bit color. My computer does the same thing. If you convert them to 24 bit color the thumbnail will render correctly. I've narrowed the problem down to the thumbnail options screen. Try unchecking "sharpen thumbnail" and see if that doesn't clear it up.

Turning off thumb sharpening is just the ticket. Thanks!
