Can cache contents be preserved when files moved?

Hi experts - I have noticed that when photo files are moved from one folder to the other that the corresponding cache is rebuilt for the new folder and remains for the old folder. Is there a way for Xnview to preserve the cache contents and move the cache as the files are moved? That would save a lot of time required to rebuild the thumbnail cache.

I notice this issue in a common workflow scenario: I often work on batches of 4GB of files at a time. First all of the files are dumped into a single directory. Then I open them in Xnview and subdivide the photos into subfolders, usually based on shooting location. For example if I had made a trip to 3 cities, I would dump all of the files into a single dir for the trip. Then I create new folders, for example Metz, Thionville, Differdange. Then the files are all moved to those three new subfolders. However when I open one of those new subfolders I can see the thumbnail cache rebuilding. On my slow filesystem this takes a long time, 10 minutes or more.

I know that there is no way to avoid the initial cache build but is there a way to avoid rebuilding the cache the second time for the subfolders where the photos are moved? It seems as if the thumbnails have already been created in the initial folder cache. Can they just be moved to the destination subfolder?

There is a related problem in that the cache for the initial folder remains though it is no longer useful. It needs to be manually removed, otherwise it just consumes space.
