I need to upload a photo to the Web + this photo is way over the 2MB limit. What's the best way of reducing its size?

Besides the standard features of XnView you should take a look here:

1) Try a different format. 2 megs is quite massive for a photo, it must either be huge in dimensions or in some lossless format. If you change it to a lossy one like JPG, you'll instantly save a massive ammount of space.

2) Reduce it's dimensions. If it's huge but doesn't need to be for your uploading purposes, then shrink it some.

3) Decrease quality settings. As long as you don't need microscopic level perfection, you can lower the quality settings quite a bit, reducing filesize greatly, while still retaining a high level of visual quality.

Try saving your image as a JPG, with the quality slider at 80%, and the color dropdown set to 1x1,1x1,1x1.

4) Split it up. If dimensions & pristine quality are important, you could cut the image into smaller images & upload them seperately.
