won't open or run win Windows 8

When running in Windows 8 pro 64bit there's an issue. The error message says: the application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more details.

update: xnview mp 0.53 version won't open in Win8

Same on my machine. with similar error message. I don't want to be without XnView in Win 8!!!

Kinda ironic that for all the progression Windows has made, its image viewer is still pathetic.

I've tried on win 8 64bits, and no problem to open it...
Do you have tried to install crt dll
