Ubuntu Software Center accepts non-GPL software (including commercial software). Check here :

Re: Suggestion - XnViewMP in Ubuntu repos
To upload a package to Multiverse repo, you need to be approved by a MOTO which may ask for a review (REVU process)... It is much more simple to publish to Ubuntu Software Centre.dvb wrote:Maybe you could start here. As I understand, the "Multiverse" repo is for the "Software not licensed under the GPL (or similar license), but supported by users."

Re: Suggestion - XnViewMP in Ubuntu repos
Hello Pierre,
it is very, very nice to see XNviewMP now in the Ubuntu online-SoftwareCenter (USC). Great thanks for your efforts!
https://apps.ubuntu.com/cat/applications/xnviewmp/
I only think one final step from your side is missing (publish)?. The package itself wont install, it cannot be found in the SWC, neither via the common packagesearch:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywo ... ection=all
Same situation with XNConvert:
https://apps.ubuntu.com/cat/applications/xnconvert/
Salut

Could you also run an update for XNConvert? Listed is there Version 1.22, current is 1.51
Screenie (Sample Picture) says Version 1.02?

Re: Suggestion - XnViewMP in Ubuntu repos
hi!
Found a bug that might possibly have to do with it (XnConvert):
bug 998158 – Version is not updated through MyApps
If so, just join in there & add your point.
XnViewMP was listed in the TopTen back in August 2012:
Softpedia.com: Top 10 Ubuntu App Downloads 08/12
In addition I asked Softpedia to update the details on the available version (they had still 0.39 on display). They changed it immediately, only they leftout the changelog for 0.50
