The database and the thumbnailing issue remains a huge miracle to me.
I have reported already the issue that sometimes XnviewMP loses all created and stored thumbnails from a completely thumbnailed folder and starts to recreate them one by one. It is obvious by loading times that it is recreating them and not only simpling reloading them from the database.
I don´t know why it happends and I cannot say when this happends. But it is terribly annoying. PLUS although the thumbnails are getting lost, the database itself does not get smalle it gets EVEN BIGGER while recreating all those thumbnails.
Database at time of loss: 563MB now while recreating size it at 760MB and every single file was thumbnailed at 563 before. I can see the database size grow while it is recreating all thumbnails. What is going on here?
Something is terribly wrong with it.

Hello,
Maybe you have changed the thumbnails size before ( the cursor or via the View menu) ? your are under Windows, which OS ?
To keep time, you can normally use : "Add Folder" under - Settings\Cache DB\Thumbnails.

How can I change the thumbnail size by "cursor"? I certainly did not change it via View menu.
But even if it was changed why are all thumbnails gone? How could this make any sense to delete almost 45000 thumbnails which takes hours to create only for a changed size.
So even if this would be the reason it does not make any sense to me. The files are fully indexed and obviously the thumbnail database doesnt shrink, so it is fair to assume the thumbnails are still in there. So why not use the thumbnails that are present instead of recreating them.
I don´t know what "Add folder" is supposed to do. Clicking it does not do anything.

Into the browser mode, the ruler at the top right.
... The files are still fully indexed, but the thumbnails are re created ...
(but maybe it's not that ?)
But even if it was changed why are all thumbnails gone? all of them or only some, because into setting you can also fix a maximum DB size.
"Add folder" is supposed to preload recurcively the DB cache from a folder. Works into XnView 9X, but with MP0.51 X64 Linux, I have a bug too.

Re: 0.53 Database issue
I do not have set a maximum DB size and ALL thumbnails are gone and needs to be recreated. Once they are recreated, it works like it was before and thumbnail getting displayed immeditely from the cache again.oops66 wrote:Into the browser mode, the ruler at the top right.

This sounds like an interesting function. Does it mean it loads stored thumbnails without the need to enter the folder?oops66 wrote: "Add folder" is supposed to preload recurcively the DB cache from a folder. Works into XnView 9X, but with MP0.51 X64 Linux, I have a bug too.
